Heritage

John Coward Architects have specialist skills in the conservation of the historic environment. Mike Darwell, one of the practice directors, is a Specialist Conservation Architect on the RIBA Conservation Register and an Architect Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC). Another of our architects, Dearbhail Keating, is a Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) Lethaby Scholar as well as an Architect Accredited in Building Conservation (AABC) and a Specialist Conservation Architect on the RIBA Conservation Register.  JCA Architects have a wealth of experience in working with heritage assets of all sizes across all sectors from dwellings, to barns, to scheduled monuments, to disused churches, to ruins. We understand the principals and philosophies that guide the conservation of historic buildings and structures and we adopt a balanced and pragmatic approach to projects to suit the particular needs of the unique building and the often varying needs of the user.
