Replacement House – Private Client
The original building on the site was a converted coach house badly sited in relation to the large garden, aspect and prospect at Buck Yeats.
The brief was to design a large modern replacement house on the plot and convert the original into garaging and external storage.
The new house has five bedrooms with appropriate bathroom accommodation on the first floor, living, dining, kitchen and ancillary accommodation at upper ground floor level and a swimming pool, gymnasium, changing and toilet facilities at the lower ground level.
The design makes best use of the sloping site with the lower ground floor cut into the bank. All the reception rooms and principle bedrooms look out towards the lake and Gummer’s How beyond.
The building is roofed with Burlington slates laid in random widths and diminishing courses and the walls faced in local random rubble stonework.
