The vacant building in a remote location was owned by United Utilities who wanted to secure planning approval for the refurbishment of the farmhouse and the conversion of the attached barn into domestic use. The solution was to create a robust, utilitarian feel to the barn that retained the character of the original structure whilst subtly adapting the farmhouse to modern living.
