A little bit of Scandinavia in Liverpool

JCA have been appointed to carry out a complete condition survey of the Nordic Church of Liverpool (Gustaf Adolfs Kyrka) in order to a identify a phased repair package focusing on the external fabric and interior of the main worship space.  The church, designed by Danish architect William Douglas Caroe and completed in 1884, is one of only four octagonal churches in the UK and was the first Swedish church to be built overseas.  The church was established to meet the pastoral needs of the many Scandinavian seaman in Liverpool and the large numbers of emigrants passing through the port during their passage to North America.

Access to high level parts is difficult given the close proximity to a busy main road so we are once again working closely with Christians Survey and Inspection Solutions who will use remote survey techniques to provide a high resolution photogrammetry model that we can use for desk top inspection, reducing the requirement for physical access to the hard to reach places.
