Rebecca Gibson

Rebecca joined John Coward Architects in 1999, became a Director in 2002 and Managing Director in 2017. She works predominantly at the early stages of projects, from initial briefing and appointment through design and planning, while also maintaining an overview as work progresses into technical design. Clients work closely with her as the brief takes shape and through the decisions that lead to a planning application.

Her experience spans new-build residential and commercial projects, conversions and extensions. She works closely with local planning departments and has developed a detailed understanding of local planning policy, along with established relationships with planning officers. Before joining John Coward Architects, Rebecca worked in Kendal, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Fiji, across projects ranging from small domestic work to retail schemes and hotels. She particularly enjoys finding potential in existing buildings and sites, and how traditional building methods can work with technology to make buildings more sustainable.
