Richard Cater BA (hons), PG Dip Arch, RIBA, ARB


Richard joined John Coward Architects early in 2014 and has over 17 years of experience in architectural practice, working on a diverse range of projects throughout the UK. He studied architecture at Leeds and Westminster becoming a Chartered member of the RIBA in 2002.

Richard began his career working in India on social housing projects throughout the sub continent. Returning to the UK he worked in private practice in London designing and delivering high quality residential projects. Moving up to South Lakeland in 2000, Richard then developed a comprehensive, client focused experience in the design and project management of publicly funded projects, particularly in the education sector. Schemes have varied in scale from small remodelling and refurbishment schemes through to large new build secondary school projects and sports facilities.

Richard’s broad experience makes him a versatile and adaptable architect who is able to maximise the potential of any new project, through design, the creative process and quality project management.
