Claudia Bland
Architectural Technologist
Claudia joined John Coward Architects in July 2015, her first role in architecture after completing a BSc in Architectural Technology. She works across projects from early design through to site work, though she is most often closely involved at the Building Regulations and technical design stages, where the initial design is developed into the detail needed to work in practice.
Much of Claudia’s work is residential, including new homes, extensions and alterations, particularly to traditional buildings across the South Lakes and Lake District National Park. She also works with listed buildings and has a particular interest in the local vernacular, both in how these buildings were constructed and the part they play within their wider setting.
She particularly enjoys smaller domestic projects, where limited space, budget or an existing building can create demanding technical problems to solve. These projects can also be especially personal to the client. Claudia works closely with them to develop solutions that conform to Building Regulations and technical requirements while also responding to how they want to live in and use the building.
